Duties and Responsibilities - Materials Buyer

 

The successful Materials will join a fast-paced department and help introduce, roll out and embed scaleable procurement processes and procedures. Reporting to the Director of Procurement and working directly alongside the finance and operation teams, duties and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Generating Purchase Orders to ensure on-time delivery of build materials to meet project demands
  • Negotiating pricing and lead times for materials
  • Evaluation and negotiation of agreements in line with procurement procedures
  • Monitoring PO commitments and inventory levels against forecast requirements
  • Monitoring business trends and product availability to pay the best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times
  • Managing supplier relationships to optimise cost, quality and operational efficiency and assess potential alternative suppliers
  • Introduce improvements to the forward planning process to highlight potential supplier capacity constraints
  • Ensuring support for overall company direction and growth
  • Ensure risks and issues are identified in a timely manner and actively mitigated.

 

Criteria - Procurement Specialist

 

In order to be considered for this job, you should be able to demonstrate 3 - 5 years of relevant procurement experience from a complex, procurement environment. Your experience should include managing and conducting core procurement plans. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

 

  • Outstanding supplier management skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with and influence internal stakeholders
  • Proven experience of running a full life cycle procurement process to identify ideal suppliers
  • Demonstrable experience that highlights you are a confident negotiator who is commercially aware
  • Detail driven with the ability and flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly competent in utilising data to drive decision making and trend analysis

 

Desirable

 

  • Procurement qualification CIPS/ IIPMM or equivalent
  • Experience working with ERP system (transactional inputting & accurate reporting)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, reporting, ERP systems
  • Experience of implementing procurement best practices in a related environment
