*Are you an experienced tactical Buyer who is ready to expand your skills and learn new ways of working?*

On behalf of a distinguished leader in the construction/manufacturing industry, I am seeking to recruit an experienced tactical Buyer.

You're probably asking..... why should I leave my job for this role?

Well, I'll be honest - it's not for everyone.  If you're happy to coast along, this isn't the role for you.  If you're someone who thrives in an environment where innovation, teamwork, and growth are not just encouraged, but celebrated, then this role is for you.

My client is currently in a period of transformation and change.  Specifically within the Procurement department, they have restructured and created a new Procurement Management role, (currently interviewing) - a role focused on driving strategic initiatives within the department.  You will report to the appointed Procurement Manager and your role is an important position within the department.  While your main responsibilities will involve managing the existing supply base, you will be expected to learn and adapt to more strategic ways of working.

The business itself prides itself on fostering a culture of growth, safety, respect and sustainability.  I'm seeking a dynamic individual,  who is eager to contribute to the continued success of the business, and be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional results. If you are driven by a passion for excellence and seeking a rewarding career opportunity please do submit your CV for review.

Duties and responsibilities

The appointed Buyer will join a team of four, who collectively have responsibility for a spend of around £34 million, across multiple sites.   While the initial focus of the role will be transactional duties, it is anticipated that over time, the role will evolve.  As Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless procurement processes, on-time in full delivery and robust supplier management across your portfolio of suppliers/categories.  Duties and responsibilities will include:

Purchasing

  • Managing the purchase order process using MRP
  • Managing invoice queries and resolving invoice grief to ensure suppliers are paid on time
  • Cross-functional collaboration with internal teams
  • Data analysis, system management and maintenance and reporting

Supplier Management

  • Ensuring the on-time in full delivery of products and services, without compromising quality
  • Managing current supplier relationships/onboarding approved suppliers
  • Monitoring and reporting on supplier KPIS / undertaking supplier audits when required
  • Utilising preferred supplier lists and sourcing alternative supply chains when required

Procurement

  • Managing the tender process for goods and services
  • Negotiating best cost / terms and conditions
  • Sourcing for indirect materials

If you're an experienced tactical Buyer ready to take on a dynamic role in purchasing and contribute to this company's success at a pivotal time of its growth journey, i'd love to hear from you.

Criteria

  • A minimum of GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above in English and Maths
  • A minimum of one year of experience gained in a transactional purchasing role in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of managing the tendering process and negotiating supplier agreements
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply information from various sources
  • Knowledge of warehouse managemen
  • MRP Office suite skills / experience in an ERP system
  • Preference will be given to candidates who, as well as the above, hold a CIPS Qualification/ student membership.
